Pinelli, accused of the notorious Piazza Fontana bombing, was cleared of the charges after his death. The events that led to Pinelli’s death have never been revealed. Auditions will be held on Saturday 7 May in the meeting room at Quixotic Books - 109 Brisbane St, Launceston from 10am. All roles are available for audition. The production will run Wednesday 9 – Saturday 12 November 2022 at the Earl Arts Centre. The audition kit can be accessed HERE. If you have any questions, please email 3rivertheatre@gmail.com. The Three River Annual General Meeting for 2022 will be held:Friday 18 March 7pm
Holy Trinity Hall, located behind the church at 34 Cameron Street, Launceston. All members are welcome, and we will have plenty of membership forms on the day if you would like to renew your membership. Our first play reading will be held at the AGM. Closed Circuit was written in the 1980's and set in the 'futuristic' 1990's, where all schools are now linked to a central computer. Face to face teaching is now obsolete. This play provokes the audience to consider where technology is leading education and what are the ramifications because of this? A play as poignant today as it was 30 years ago, especially in the light of the pandemic and online learning at home in recent years. This play lends itself to an interesting discussion - and a few laughs in between. At the AGM we will also be holding a Silent Auction and Raffle to raise funds for our 2022 productions. If you have anything that you can kindly donate to the cause, please email 3rivertheatre@gmail.com. OF MICE AND MEN - THREE RIVER THEATRE
John Steinbeck wrote his novella Of Mice and Men in 1937, immediately following it with his stage version, which quickly became a theatre classic. It won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Best Play in 1938, and has been performed continuously since, with the first (of many) film adaptations coming in 1939. Set firmly in the Great Depression, Steinbeck’s tale of two landless itinerant workers explores the universality of human hopes and dreams. The play’s careful construction is like a Greek tragedy, and the issues it uncompromisingly raises, from economic disenfranchisement to disability to racism and sexism are as relevant today as they were when the play was written. The language and the action, both brutally of their time, can be confronting, but it remains a powerful and moving examination of the human condition not to be missed. Launceston’s Three River Theatre has assembled a stellar cast to bring the show to life, including Cameron Hindrum, Travis Hennessy, Michael Edgar, Jonathan Pedler, Ryan Politis, Eleanore Knox, Matt Taylor, Leigh Oswin, Freddie Brown and Thanalert Ellen. Directed by Stan Gottschalk. Next Playreading! WEDNESDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER, 7 for 7.30 PM
